Zen Buddhism Dogen and the Shobogenzo is a blog where all are welcome to share their ideas, thoughts, insights, or questions about Zen Buddhism, Eihei Dogen, and Dogen's Shobogenzo.
I have been a Zen student/practitioner since 1986
I am the author of The Flatbed Sutra of Louie Wing: The Second Ancestor of Zen in the West. It is a fictional account of a modern day Zen master written in the style of the Sutra of Huineng.
I am a father, husband, merchant marine officer, and first class pilot. I work as a captain for the Washington State Ferries.
Purity perfected, the light penetrates, calmly shining throughout the void. Coming back and viewing the world something like a dream.
I humbly beg the three treasures for their illumination and pray that within the current life and death she shall be as the lustrous perl shimmering in the vast sea; that on the shore of nirvana she shall be as a cinnamon moon shining alone in the azure sky; so that she will guide the entire world, together climbing the path to awakening.
